While we wish our story began somewhere charming like a market, park, or through mutual friends—ours began on the internet. We quickly connected over our shared faith in Christ, patriotism, humor, and desire to put God first in our relationship.
God providentially answered our individual prayers for a future spouse and perfectly orchestrated our first meeting in the great state of Texas. From Texas to Missouri, back to Texas, and eventually Pittsburgh, our relationship has been filled with travel, laughter, and lovingly—and perhaps slightly alarmingly—unfiltered honesty. Along the way, we not only fell in love with each other, but with each other’s families, making it even clearer that God was bringing together something far bigger than just the two of us.
One of our favorite memories was touring the farm where Joshua grew up. After riding around in the pouring rain, we took shelter in the 100+ year-old barn where he spent his childhood stacking hay. There, Joshua kissed Teresa and said, “You’re the only woman I want to kiss for the rest of my life.”
A few weeks later, Teresa decided patience was overrated and asked, “So… do you love me?” Joshua rolled his eyes—she had officially ruined his plan to tell her on Valentine’s Day. Not exactly the traditional first “I love you,” but perfectly us.
Later, while visiting St. Paul’s Cathedral, Joshua told Teresa that one day he wanted to marry her. We didn’t know exactly what God had planned, but we knew we wanted to faithfully follow wherever He led.
After our engagement, we returned to St. Paul’s to pray together in the same place where we had once dreamed about our future. It was a beautiful full-circle reminder that God had heard our prayers and answered them in His perfect timing.
Through these moments and countless others, we’ve seen God’s faithfulness woven throughout our story. We are eternally grateful He brought us together and intend to build a marriage and home centered on serving Him.
“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” — Joshua 24:15
We are so thankful to celebrate this joyful day with the family and friends we love and can’t wait to begin this next chapter together!
